Session and Workshop Details
Sessions
Throughout our lives, God appoints times in which He fortifies our faith. There are times in which we have the blessed opportunity to reaffirm God’s Word as true and sure; to avow that, because of the fall, we do NOT have the mind of Christ; to trust implicitly in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to pray without ceasing that God would grant us the desire and strength to deliberately deny ourselves, to untiringly take up our cross, and to faithfully follow God. If one does not know well what or whom he fights, he may soon be persuaded to change his side, or at least stand neutral. By faith each believer should take great, purposeful care and endeavor in all temptations and trials to strengthen his faith only on the almighty power of God.
Session 1: When Satan Assails
II Chronicles 20 & Ephesians 6In this session we will briefly set the foundation by examining from the Scripture what our faith is. We will then briefly discuss God’s provisions for us to strengthen our faith when we need to take a stand against Satan.
Session 2: When Our Flesh Overwhelms
Romans 6 & 7:15-25; Job; Luke 22:31-32We will first briefly explore the ineffective ways we might “deal with” our flesh (indwelling sin), then we will look at the Scriptures again to see all that God has provided us in order to grow in faith when it comes to our flesh.
Session 3: When the World Surges
Many passages in the Old Testament; II Chronicles 20Through examination of God’s Word, we will begin this session comparing/contrasting our “worldly temptations” to that of the Israelites. We will then examine Scripture to see that which we are to devote ourselves, through which God may strengthen our faith.
Workshop:
Rev. Bob Van Manen, pastor of Little Farms Chapel in Marne, MI, will be leading Saturday’s workshop. As has been customary, he plans to unveil the truths about a lesser-known woman in the Bible who is strong in faith and character.
